Sometimes, I don’t know why I try??
Why is it that Cisco, one of the largest networking companies in the world, cannot resolve a simple hostname in a URL?!? I submitted a spam email to Spamcop that included the URL “http://www.med72.com/”. When Spamcop tried to process the email, it said the following:
Finding links in message bodyParsing text part
Resolving link obfuscationhttp://www.med72.com/
Host www.med72.com (checking ip) IP not found ; www.med72.com discarded as fake.Tracking link: http://www.med72.com/Cannot resolve http://www.med72.com/

Cisco is definitely so large that they can easily screw up otherwise useful web sites. Take a look at what they’ve done with the Linksys web site (www.linksys.com). Previously when I needed a firmware update or information on a Linksys product I just brought up their web site, plugged in the model number of the Linksys appliance I was interested in and voila! very quick info. Try looking for their RVL200 (SSL/VPN router). Let me know how long it took you to track it down. It took me the better part of 10 minutes. I don’t think Cisco is all that interested in selling Linksys products anymore.

Looks like Cisco hasn’t gotten any better. I still see plenty of hostnames that Cisco can’t resolve, yet my computer has no problems with:
Tracking link: http://enlargementpillhealthrx.net/
No recent reports, no history available
Cannot resolve http://enlargementpillhealthrx.net/
I guess it’s not easy to set up alternate DNS servers to lookup IP addresses when you’re one of the largest Internet companies in the world?!?

OK – let me just say that I’m sure that Spamcop isn’t “in bed with the spammers”. Even so, if I had their resources, I don’t think it would be that difficult to outsmart these “smart DNS servers” that the spammers have set up to outsmart Spamcop?
